Arnold expands Chonburi SmCo capability; Phase II targets mid-2027 readiness

Arnold Magnetic Technologies and two industry publications confirm a second investment phase at its Amata City Chonburi plant, adding samarium-cobalt production, shaping and finishing. The mid-2027 target and doubling metric are company plans for overall magnet capacity, not achieved Thai-plant output.

Arnold Magnetic Technologies announced an expansion of its Thailand operations. Medical Design & Development reported it on 10 June 2026 and Shanghai Metals Market cross-reported on 30 June, with all sources identifying the existing Amata City Chonburi facility and the same investment phase.

The plant began operating in October 2024 with initial capability focused on electromagnetic rotor and stator assemblies. Arnold says Phase I completed the required magnet-finishing capabilities, while Phase II has started and will add samarium-cobalt (SmCo) magnet production, shaping and finishing.

The company targets full operational readiness by mid-2027 and says the expansion will ultimately double its overall magnet production capacity. This is not current Thailand output. Thai-plant baseline capacity, actual production, yield, customer orders and the exact investment amount are not disclosed, so none are estimated here.

SmCo magnets serve high-temperature and high-reliability applications, so the expansion may deepen Chonburi's role in motors, sensors, aerospace, medical and energy-component supply chains. Specific applications, customer qualification and purchasing volume remain subject to later product approvals and commercial disclosure.

Digital manufacturing should connect raw-material or powder lots, material grades, pressing and heat-treatment parameters, shaping, finishing, magnetic-property testing, dimensional results and nonconformance disposition. For controlled sectors such as aerospace, product revision, personnel qualification, equipment calibration and change approval must align across ERP, QMS and MES.

Project controls should distinguish operating rotor/stator work, completed Phase I finishing, Phase II SmCo production under development and future full readiness. Each stage needs its own budget, equipment, trial, capability-validation and quality-release evidence so a group capacity target never replaces plant-level KPIs.
