Smart Shop-floor Reporting and Data Collection
Connect orders, operations, people, equipment, material, quality and completion into traceable shop-floor records.
Learning objective
Design an executable and reconcilable reporting and exception-capture process.
03
Steps
01Define the release relationship among production orders, operation tasks, work centres and shifts.
02Set the boundary between PDA, station terminal, machine interface and manual entry.
03Capture good, scrap, rework, labour, machine time, material batches and downtime reasons.
04Require approval for over-reporting, skipped operations, substitutes, rework and backdated entry.
05Validate the loop using order progress, WIP, machine status and quality traceability reports.

Implementation notes
- Standardise shop-floor work before automating machine collection.
- Higher collection frequency does not guarantee better data.
- Provide fallback procedures for outages, late entry and machine failure.
