Haier Breaks Ground on AI-Driven Central Air-Conditioning Base in Rayong
Haier held a groundbreaking ceremony on 12 May 2026 for a commercial central air-conditioning manufacturing base at WHA Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate 5 in Rayong. WHA's 25 May announcement says the project is planned to use more than 65% AI-driven automation and is expected to begin operations in June 2027, so it remains under construction.
WHA describes the project as Haier's third AI intelligent manufacturing base in Thailand and positions it as an AI-agent factory dedicated to central air-conditioning production. A planned R&D centre will focus on customised HVAC solutions for tropical climates, with products intended for Southeast Asia, Europe and North America.
WHA ESIE 5 covers approximately 7,000 rai; Phase 1 is reported as more than 80% complete while Phase 2 is progressing. The project could create demand in automation, HVAC research, maintenance and local supply chains, but the official release does not disclose the project's investment value, plant area or employment number.
