Nestlé and Thailand's Agricultural Extension Department Sign Coffee Supply-Chain MOU
Nestlé Thailand and the Department of Agricultural Extension under the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives signed an MOU to advance quality coffee production, research and a sustainable coffee supply chain, alongside providing Thai farmers with plantlets from the Nestlé Research Center.
The official release says the initiative is intended to support expansion of coffee-growing areas and connect government, research and business capabilities in the Thai coffee supply chain. It is an MOU and plantlet-support action, not a guarantee of procurement, farmer income or yield gains.
Nestlé reports distributing more than 4.7 million coffee plantlets to Thai farmers over several decades. That is a long-term cumulative figure; the release does not state the current donation quantity, farmer count, provinces, budget or incremental production.
