OPTISEN Opens 72,000-Square-Metre Fiber-Optic Cable Plant in Chonburi

OPTISEN officially opened a new fiber-optic cable manufacturing facility at WHA Chonburi Industrial Estate 2 on 26 April 2025. The plant covers 72,000 square metres and has first-phase design capacity of up to six million fibre-kilometres per year.

WHA describes the facility as Southeast Asia's largest optical-fibre manufacturing plant; that is the source's positioning. The site uses advanced production technologies to serve expanding Thai communications-infrastructure demand, with AIS, JASTEL and TRUE named in the official release.

Fiber-optic cable is a foundational input for telecommunications, data centres and the digital economy. The factory has officially opened, but six million fibre-kilometres is a capacity ceiling rather than actual annual output. The announcement also does not disclose investment value or employment.
