Haier breaks ground on Rayong commercial-AC AI factory, targeting June 2027 operations

Haier held a groundbreaking ceremony on 12 May 2026 for a commercial and central air-conditioning smart factory at WHA Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate 5 in Rayong. Haier Thailand, estate developer WHA and China Daily align on the event date and location.

WHA says the base is scheduled to begin operations in June 2027, is designed for more than 65% AI-driven automation and will include an R&D centre focused on HVAC technology for tropical climates. These are project-owner plans, not current production or automation results.

At this update, the confirmed stage is groundbreaking and planned construction. Public sources do not establish that the factory is operating, nor do they provide audited actual output, yield, employment or local-sourcing ratios.

By combining commercial-AC manufacturing and R&D within an EEC industrial estate, the project may create demand across HVAC components, metal processing, electronic controls, refrigeration parts and industrial services. Actual supplier opportunities will depend on qualification, ramp-up and later procurement disclosures.

For digital programmes, the construction phase should establish common codes for equipment, materials, suppliers, BOMs, routings and quality characteristics. ERP, MES, WMS, equipment data and traceability should then be integrated before ramp-up; installed automation alone is not an end-to-end data loop.

Manufacturers should track two uncertainties: the planned operating date may differ from the actual ramp, and the automation target requires acceptance evidence. ERP records should preserve the audit trail from budget and contract through delivery, installation, commissioning, capitalisation and capacity validation.
